A People-first Philosophy for Design

What defines the success of a building? We believe that it should support the quality of life of the people who dwell within it.

When we design, we design for people. Your lifestyle and requirements drive our design manifesto, placing you at the heart of the design process.

Our aim is to push the boundaries of design by interrogating every project to extract its core values. Using these as the foundation, our rigorous design approach combines these with individual user experiences; allowing all aspects of the design to be tailored towards our client’s specific needs.

“We celebrate functionality, simplicity and clean lines… We embrace Scandinavian design principles to create user defined environments.”

We believe generosity manifests itself in architecture that moves beyond solving specific needs – our aim is to create spaces that offers new value to its users and surroundings. By understanding the local context and environment, we apply these findings to influence the layout & function of our public spaces and buildings.

We believe the quality of a scheme stems from a culture of collaboration and transparency. Working closely with other consultants, local authorities and stakeholders, during the design process we strive to understand the full context we are designing within.

Who we are:

Life choices have helped define our practice and they continue to define how we work and collaborate. They have helped us develop the empathy we need to transform our client’s dreams into realistic projects.

Situated in the centre of Manchester, we are an RIBA Chartered Architectural Practice, with a proven track record in delivering high quality, bespoke residential schemes. We believe in adding values to our client’s lives and their environments with a focus on dynamic – refinement and client driven concepts.

Guest Lodge, Berkshire

Define - IMG (3)

Phase One of a private residential masterplan; the Guest Lodge provides three bedrooms and living accommodation in a rural greenbelt setting.

Drawing upon influences of Danish design principles, the proposal adopts a simple palette of natural materials and takes advantage of the site's stunning views across the landscape.

Each room has been positioned to adapt to the site. To maximise daylight into the key spaces, the orientation and positioning of the building was carefully considered. A large strip window to the corridor on the northern boundary of the site, allows for key views to the woodland behind.

Large corner bi-folding doors create a seamless connection between the open plan living arrangement and the orchard, allowing the inside of the building to flow into the natural surroundings. The structural design of the building allowed for a large cantilevered corner, providing a large covered outdoor dining area.

As a self-build project itself, we have been involved throughout the project, providing the client with consistent information along the way, whilst adapting to updated product specifications along the way.

Øverodvej, Copenhagen

We were appointed to convert an existing 1 & 1/2 storey bungalow into a new 4 bedroom family home on a constrained urban plot.

Located in Copenhagen, Denmark, the proposal re-configured the existing ground floor to optimise the existing footprint and create an open plan living space and a private snug room.

Through careful analysis of the location for the stair, a spacious upper floor layout was achieved. Maximising daylight was crucial for the client and therefore a large atrium space was created at the entrance of the house.

Local materials were proposed including white render and natural slate roof.
